Ambassador

His Excellency Mr. Fausto Mariano LOPEZ CROZET

Ambassador Fausto López Crozet is a career diplomat. He graduated as a lawyer from the School of Law and Social Sciences at Universidad de La Plata in 1989. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship in 1993. In Argentina, he served in the Directorate of Antarctic Affairs for three periods (1993-97 and 2008-11) and as Director General from 2012 to 2016. He also served at the Chief of Staff Office for the Commerce and International Economic Relations Secretariat (2004-08). Abroad, he has served at the Argentine Embassy in Uruguay (1997-2004) and at the UNASUR General Secretariat in Quito, Ecuador (2011-12).

Mrs. Mariana Álvarez Rodríguez.

Counselor Mariana Alvarez Rodríguez is a career diplomat. She gained admission, first of merit, to the Institute of Foreign Service of the Nation (ISEN) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina in 2001. In 2003, after completing her studies at ISEN, she was granted the Helena Holmberg Medal.

Between 2013 and 2016 she worked in the South American Direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, dealing with the relationship with Chile. From 2008 to 2013 she was posted to the Embassy of Argentina in France. Between 2005 and 2008 she served in the General Direction of Environmental Affairs and in the Special Representation for International Environmental Negotiations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2006 she acted as technical expert before the International Court of Justice in the lawsuit filed by Argentina against Uruguay (Pulp Mills on the River Uruguay). From 2004 to 2005 she served in the General Direction of Malvinas and Islands of the South Atlantic of the same Ministry.

She holds a degree in International Relations from the “Universidad del Salvador”, obtained in 2000. Her thesis-theme was "The role of intellectuals in international relations". She was Professor of Diplomatic Theory and Practice, and Assistant-Professor of Introduction to Theory of International Relations, in the Faculty of Social Sciences of the aforementioned University.
